Liz and Donni Engelhart

Liz and Donni Engelhart
As donor-advised Impact fund holders, the Engelharts established a fund that allows young donors to contribute over a 5 year period. This was consistent with their focused long-term view of their philanthropy – blending the systematic approach as befits his financial analyst profession with her philosophy as a one-time Teach for America participant. Both are non-natives of Baltimore – he's from Chicago and she's from Los Angeles.

We hope to teach our children that giving back is a Jewish value and that the fund will give them an opportunity when they are older to make giving decisions.

Baltimore has become our home because we have an incredible community of friends and are thrilled to be living here and raising our family here.

We established a donor-advised Impact fund to marry our charitable giving with investing and saving – our fund grows and allows us to make an impact on the issues we care about in a tax-efficient manner.

The life experience that defined my life was when my parents taught us to take risks. If we fell, we needed to get up. That helped when I was teaching in Baltimore City through Teach for America. (Liz)

If we could solve any problem in the world, we would create access to education and lower barriers to opportunity.

Three words that describe us: Analytical. Calm. Best father ever. (Donni, as described by Liz). Positive. Caring. Vibrant. (Liz, as described by Donni).
